I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be running my first 40k tournament on April 28!
Every year our gaming group spends a lot of time preparing for our favourite tournament in Toronto, Astronomi-con. Most of our year revolves around planning our armies, testing lists, and painting up our models just for this one event. We recently started going to a new store for our 40k fix and have expanded our gaming group with some new people that have never been to Astronomi-con. So I figure to help introduce those people to Astro, and to help the veterans test out their lists, we would run a small tournament using the Astronomi-con rules and missions!
For those of you that don’t know, Astro is a 2 day 40k tournament played at 1500pts. Each table you play on has a custom mission and unique terrain. This is a more hobby focused tournament with a heavy weight on soft scores like Appearance and Sportsmanship.
Since this is a mini-con and not a full Astro, I’ve adjusted the tournament rules to fit a one day, three game event. Right now we’re only planning to have 6 tables and therefore a maximum of 12 players. But if there is enough interest we may be able to add another table or two.
So far we will be giving away 2 tickets to the full Astronomi-con in Toronto this summer, but we may add more prizes before the tournament takes place.
