While I have run a few casual 40k Leagues in the past, this was the first time I had ever run an actual Tournament! I have to say it was a huge success. The tournament was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to run something similar in the future. For those interested, a full gallery of the day’s events can be found here. For those of you not familiar with Astronomi-con, it’s a more hobby focused tournament. Every year our gaming group spends a lot of time preparing for our favourite tournament in Toronto, Astronomi-con. Most of our year revolves around planning our armies, testing lists, and painting up our models just for this one event. We recently started going to a new store for our 40k fix and have expanded our gaming group with some new people that have never been to Astronomi-con. So I figure to help introduce those people to Astro, and to help the veterans test out their ...

The 40k Leauge is done!

40k League

40k

Battle Reports

League Talk

Tournament Results
<guid

February 26th was the final day to play games and we just managed to fit in the remaining 3 games, tie breaker battles and give out prizes. With 12 players playing each other once, we played total of 66 games of 40k in 3 months! That’s a lot of Warhammer! Overall I’m really happy with how the League played out. We had a great mix of veterans, newbies, competitive and casual players. Most importantly everyone had a lot of fun. One small issue we had was that I didn’t really ...

I played this amazing custom board game called Xeno-Terror!

Battle Reports

Check it out

Fun

Game Overview

Meeple Mart
<guid

He calls it Xeno-Terror and has put a lot of work into developing the rules, board, pieces and components used to play. The game looks and plays like a amazing combination of Space Hulk, 40k, Aliens and the Doom board game. Where this game really shines is the level of detail put into the game components. Every piece of the board is hand built and painted, with the ‘accessories’ such as ammo boxes, computer terminals, armour racks, and barrels ...

Dark Eldar Army Update – Wrack Venoms, Haemonculus, Trueborn

Conversions

40k

Conversion

Dark Eldar
<guid

Due to our 40k League starting up back in November I pretty much had to get my 1500pt army built quick. While everything isn’t quite 100% built, the majority of it is. The core of my army revolves around 2 squads of 5 Wracks in Venoms and a 20-man Warrior squad. Since my Wracks and Warriors are just stock models I didn’t bother taking and picture of them. My plan is to run two squads of 3 Grotesques in my Dark Eldar army. I thought that with a little converting, the GW Finecast Grotesque could be a decent start. But still, I wouldn’t want 6 of the same model. So with 2 Finecast models for the single Aberration in each squad, I got my hands on some Rat Ogres models from the ...

Blingtoof’s Bloodbowl Tournament – Day 2

Events

Battle Reports

Bloodbowl

Meeple Mart

Tournament Results
<guid

It was held here in Toronto at the very awesome gaming store Meeplemart. My buddy Tristan from GWPertinent has been trying to convince me to attend one of the many Bloodbowl tournaments he goes to every year, but I was always a little hesitant to go. But with Blingtoof being held at my local gaming store, I didn’t really have an excuse! So I got out my old Nurgle Rotters team, put together a roster (with Tristan’s help), and headed on down to test my very poor Bloodbowl skills ...

Nurgle Rotters team – The Stagnant Society

Armies

Army Showcase

Bloodbowl

Old Models

Painting
<guid

I quickly painted them up back then and used them for a long time. Then, a couple years back, I had the urge to strip and repaint them all which I did… but only to about 75% completion. Now that I’m going to Blingtoof’s Bloodbowl tournament this weekend for some reason, it was time to finish them up and show them off. If you’re wondering about the goblins, Blingtoof’s tournament allows any team to hire goblins on their team.
