Even though I haven’t been posting much these past few months, I’ve been hard at work getting my Dark Eldar army put together. Due to our 40k League starting up back in November I pretty much had to get my 1500pt army built quick. While everything isn’t quite 100% built, the majority of it is. The core of my army revolves around 2 squads of 5 Wracks in Venoms and a 20-man Warrior squad. Since my Wracks and Warriors are just stock models I didn’t bother taking and picture of them. You’ll just have to make due with the small ...

With our 40k League starting up this weekend, I figured I should start working on my army for it… So I dug out the Dark Eldar models I ordered so long ago and got to work. My plan is to run two squads of 3 Grotesques in my Dark Eldar army. I thought that with a little converting, the GW Finecast Grotesque could be a decent start. But still, I wouldn’t want 6 of the same model. So with 2 Finecast models for the single Aberration in each squad, I got my hands on some Rat Ogres models from the ...

This is a continuation of my report on my experience at the Blingtoof’s Gitbash Bloodbowl Tournament 2011. If you have not yet, please go read the summary of Day 1 before reading this post! Fourth game: Chris – Underworld First game of the second day was against the Tournament Organizer! This was a really interesting game, as up to this point I was playing against fairly bashy teams. I had to really adjust my strategy to face a team made up of Goblins and Skaven. Chris also had a really cool theme with his army, using these awesome pumpkin ...

This past weekend was the 1st Annual Blingtoof’s Gitbash Bloodbowl tournament! It was held here in Toronto at the very awesome gaming store Meeplemart. My buddy Tristan from GWPertinent has been trying to convince me to attend one of the many Bloodbowl tournaments he goes to every year, but I was always a little hesitant to go. But with Blingtoof being held at my local gaming store, I didn’t really have an excuse! So I got out my old Nurgle Rotters team, put together a roster (with Tristan’s help), and headed on down to test my very poor Bloodbowl skills ...

I’m finally done painting my Nurgle Rotter Bloodbowl team. I first bought these guys at least 9 years ago. I quickly painted them up back then and used them for a long time. Then, a couple years back, I had the urge to strip and repaint them all which I did… but only to about 75% completion. Now that I’m going to Blingtoof’s Bloodbowl tournament this weekend for some reason, it was time to finish them up and show them off. If you’re wondering about the goblins, Blingtoof’s tournament allows any team to hire goblins on their team. If ...

It’s took longer than I would have liked, but I finally finished up a pack of plague marines for the Death Guard army I’m building for Astro next year. At least my list small enough that these nine guys are already close to 1/3 of the total infantry. The look I’m aiming for with these guys is a heresy/early post-heresy look by using the pre-heresy Death Guard colours, but with lots of areas where the armour has rusted and the paint flaked off. I’m also not a big fan of the blobbed on green stuff mutations that seems to ...

It’s that time of year again where our gaming group needs to spice things up and start up another 40k League! We’ve been playing a lot of non-warhammer games at an awesome local gaming store called MeepleMart. We’ve been thinking of switching gears back over to 40k and the owner of MeepleMart (Steve) overheard us talking about this and suggested we run our 40k League there in the store. Not only has Steve suggested we use his awesome tables and terrain for our games, but he also mentioned he wouldn’t mind offering some prize support! Instead of just keeping this ...

For the final post in this series on MERCS, I’ll briefly go over the game system itself. I won’t be going into too much detail, but by then end of this post you should have a good idea of how exactly a game of MERCS actually plays. Each turn is carried out on a per-model initiative order. Each model, on both sides, roll a d10 at the beginning of every turn to determine each model’s initiative for that turn. Then, from the highest Initiate to the lowest, each model gets a single action. This random initiative really shakes the game ...

So I think it’s settled. Even though I’m going to be working on a Haemonculi Coven themed Dark Eldar army, I’m still going to have to work in a Court of the Archon. Between the amazing Medusae and Ur-Ghul the unveiled a few weeks back and now these amazing Sslyth and Lhamhean Poisoner models… I just don’t think I can help myself. I… must… paint… freaky alien things! No announcement yet on when these two models will be coming out, but with GW’s new release strategy I would expect to see them on shelves in the next month or so. ...
